Ferst Readers of Carroll County is blessed to have many financial supporters. Our strongest supporters are the individual donors who sponsor a child for $45 each year or make small gifts annually. In addition, we have several fundraising events each year with business sponsors and we receive grant funds from local foundations. We serve almost 5000 children and mail about 42,000 books here in Carroll County each year. Each and every donor helps to make that possible! Now online, donors can set up recurring gifts… give a little each month!

You can help support the programs of Ferst Readers by:

– Supporting our fundraising events including Belk Charity Days, our Change for Children collections at high school football games, and our annual Fashion Ferst Luncheon in October of each year.

You can also support our programs by encouraging parents to register their children to participate in Ferst Readers, receive our books, and read regularly to their children. The parent IS the child’s first teacher!

Ferst Readers of Carroll County, Inc. is a 501c(3) Non-Profit Organization whose mission is to develop literacy among young children. Early reading experiences enhance children’s chances of becoming successful students, and ultimately, educable members of the area workforce. Funds raised are used to provide FREE, new, quality, age-appropriate books for registered children in our county between the ages of 0-5. These books are for ALL children in Carroll County regardless of race, religion, or financial need. Books are mailed to children each month. Currently, we are providing books for over 3,000 children monthly and our registrant base is still growing.
